Barren is classic point and click adventure game played through the eyes of the player (scene by scene movement) released few days ago. The story is placed in a SF-phantasmagoria type of setting where you play a person of unknown origin stranded in a strange dreamlike place. It’s a relatively short adventure game, but features a fair of amount of cut scenes and cool atmosphere.
The project was started long time ago during 2002 (as a QB program) without a clear goal, which resulted in several aspect of the game being quite clumsy. The source code passed through several overhauls, and the final version of the scripting system was a nightmare to manage. Nevertheless, somehow the game got completed.
A developer, that as far as I can tell goes by the name of walaber, has created and released a game that allows you to be a gymnast in his cleverly titled game Gymnast. In Gymnast you play the role of exactly that and you control it with a dual analog controller in the assumption that you have one. It’s quite addicting and enjoyable, the novelty of the thing is one of its greatest feats.
Gymnast is a physics-based acrobatic game with 100% analog controls. The game makes use of a modern gamepad, using the analog thumbsticks to give 1-to-1 control over the joints on a gymnast character.
The day has finally arrived! Noitu Love 2 is here and ready to be purchased!
Konjak has just released his masterpiece in 0.9a - as there might still be some bugs - along with an extended demo version which I intend to try out as soon as I have the spare time, then I need to get enough money together to buy a copy of the full game!
Even if you don’t think Konjak should be selling his games visit the site here and get the demo anyway, just so as to marvel at the level of excellence achieved in this game.
ChrisD has just released an early beta of his online text based rpg game named ‘Syndicate’!
The concept behind the game is an online, text based crime game. You can join or start your very own mafia families and possibly reenact scenes from “The Godfather” if your heart so desires.
The aim of the game is whatever you want it to be. Some people will set out aiming to becoming a don and running their own crime family, while others might want work in the police force. Some will choose to become hit men or contract killers, businessmen, thieves, vandals, or drug barons- there are many possibilities, it depends on how you play the game. Whatever you choose though, you’ll need to start earning some money.
In it, players can chat, fight, shoot, rob, train, vandalize, create and join crime families, build, buy and maintain buisnesses (bars, casinos, diners, gyms, gun stores etc), grow, process and deal drugs, and a whole bunch of other shenanigans.
The game looks very interesting, none of your generic platformer action here! For more information and a download link visit the official site/forum here.
To continue on the theme of awesomeness I bring you TAGAP - or The Apocalyptic Game About Penguins.
Turn the experimental drugs against you enemies; Become over-the-top, feel invincible and perform unnatural agility. Side effects do occur, shifting tempo and intensity of reality from high-speed to slowmotion – and back!
Sounds good to me! If you like the sound of it too, visit the official site here.
This game developed by Juniors at DigiPen Institute of Technology, looks very unique and very cool!
“Bontago is an intense single or multiplayer 3d real-time strategy game. Players begin with flags (one color for each player) spaced evenly around the edge of a large disk, called the field, balanced on a fulcrum in the center. Around each flag is a circle representing that player’s controlled area. Every few seconds a block appears on each player’s cursor. The players must place the blocks somewhere in their controlled areas. Players can place the block at any moment in the allotted time, or can hold it until time is up and the block will fall on its own and be replaced by the next block. The goal of the game is to encompass all of the world flags in the controlled area.
Although the rules are simple, strategic thinking, quick reflexes, and a bit of luck is required to win this game.“
Sounds like fun, doesn’t it Download the game here. Their site seems to be down, now and then, so if you can’t download it try again later.
This amazing-looking game, courtesy of Oxeye Games, is worth all of the hype it is getting. The guys over at Oxeye certainly know the niche in the games market - bringing us an outstanding Real-Time Strategy (RTS).
You must build your base, gather resources and fend off endless hordes of aliens. The game uses a highly optimized engine perfectly suited for epic battles with literally thousands of enemies!
But like with any RTS, there’s more to it than that! There’s a complete storyline to it and many more in-depth details about various enemies and their attributes and weaknesses. Being a full-fledged RTS, you’d expect a price-tag, and that’s unfortunately what you get. However, you may download the demo to ‘wet your appetite’, or find out how the game plays, right here.
Va1entine has just asked us to cover his upcoming project, Block Master.
The game is controlled by the mouse only - and you must guide your little blocky friends to safety though many perilous mazes
My First project which i’m now around 3 months into titled “Block Master” i’m creating with Multimedia Fusion 2. Basically this is mouse controlled game in which you the player must guide the little block characters with the mouse through the maze avoiding the challenging obstacles to reach the goal. Block Master is Still a working title. The story and intro animation is what i’m working on at the moment and still unfinalised! The game will feature 12 fully playable levels that include 10 maze’s, a secret hiden maze and a Boss stage. I also plan to feature a construction kit/level editor to create your own mazes. Block Masters file size is currently arround the 15mb, i’m hopeing to keep it under 25mb! Further details and more screen shots can be found at http://va1entine.com/
Remember that old puzzle game, Labyrinth? I used to LOVE that game! Well, “Zaiib” clearly shares my passion, since he has made a version for the PC!
Ok, so there’s lots of games like this… right? Wrong.
“Powerball is a puzzle game where you have to tip a board in order to bring a ball into the target. On the way you can collect Items like coins, beam, switches (which open you doors to more coins). It’s based on the Ogre 3D Engine and was created during a University Project.
It supports Webcams (put a real board in front and move it) and Stereo view.“
Sorry, what? It supports webcams?! I was ready to download and experiment with this awesome feature, but then I read -
“You have to compile it to install it on Linux”.
I really wanted to play this game, yet I don’t have Linux any more (though it’s tempting to get it again)! But… do you run Linux? If you do, please let us know how this game plays, because it sounds totally awesome and looks the part too ^_^ This game is also open-source.
“Spike!” has released a demo version of this awesome looking little online racing game, where members race… yes, cows!
A few of the games current features -
- Hosted on a dedicated server in europe
- 2 - 8 players possible per race
- A fully working ladder system
- Ability to host / join games (the games are hosted on the server)
This hilarious and clever little game developed with Clickteam’s Multimedia Fusion (and I think, ‘MOO’, how ironic ^_^) is still in the beta stages, but why not give it a try and leave some feedback for it, at least? ‘Don’t have a cow, man’? Click here
Also, sorry for the lack of updates at the moment - but remember WE NEED YOUR NEWS!! Also, our editors have either been extremely busy or undergoing tough times right now - however, we are looking for editors at the moment. If you fancy a go at being an editor here at toastface, please contact us!
The guys over at OpenTTD have long been working on this awesome game.
OpenTTD is a clone of the Microprose game “Transport Tycoon Deluxe”, a popular game originally written by Chris Sawyer. It attempts to mimic the original game as closely as possible while extending it with new features.
It shouldn’t take a genius to work out that this game is also open-source, and will run on any operating system (well, most) - including Mac OS X and Linux (Debain/Ubuntu)! If more games like this were made, perhaps Linux and Mac would be more popular? Windows surely dominate the gaming market at the moment, but who knows what the future holds? ^_^
Clickteam - the makers of the Multimedia Fusion family of products - are currently running a competition for games created with only 20 events. To quote organiser Kisguri:
Clickteam and Fusion2Developers is proud to announce “The Twenty Event”, A Multimedia Fusion Programming Challenge contest… Entrants will battle it out to create the coolest game in MMF that uses no more then Twenty Events in any one frame, The Grand Prize winner will walk away with $250.00 Cash and MMF RESPECT!
More information can be found here. The Daily Click also has a forum thread for discussing the competition which is located here.
Composer for Bonesaw: The Game and The Spirit Engine 1 & 2, Josh Whelchel, is currently running a fund-raiser for cancer donations through the -
Not only will you be donating, you will also be receiving a free gift from Josh himself! Those of whom donate $5 or more through his Relay for Life webpage, will be sent a free digital copy of “The Spirit Engine 2 Original Soundtrack”!
The OST contains over 2 hours of original music in orchestral, jazz, and ambient genres.
Isn’t that in itself worth $5? So that you know what to expect, a demo of some of the tracks can also be found here. So, donate a small amount of money and enjoy over two hours of awesome music whilst donating to a very good cause. Where’s the catch!? There isn’t one.
Remember Hempuli’s “Floating Islands Game”!? Wanna play it?!
“Because there were so many requests for a demo, I managed to create a version with the first five levels, the credits-section and half of the tutorial. The demo shows all the basic stuff that appear in the game, though there’s nothing really cool like in some of the later levels I have to keep at least some things secret to the public release!
The game uses just mouse and it’s left button, but if you want to get irritated you can also use esc or enter for some stuff. Notice also that every level has a ‘restart’ and ‘quit’ buttons in the bottom-right corner.“
A small demo of the game has been released at SilverNova so go check it out! ^_^
